Hidy – we’ve been very busy painting on a super-secret project (more on that when Interpol allows), but had time to finally finish this encaustic coffee house piece for our friend John Alavarez in Hawaii. John is a coffee grower who is opening a retail shop and coffee house in a hotel on the big island. We created the piece below to adorn the walls and incorporated lots of imagery and artifacts from or relating to Hawaii: Sex Wax and Sticky Bumps labels (that’s surf wax for you land lubbers), actual coffee beans, burlap coffee sacks, bamboo, shells, etc. It’s a pretty cool piece and we’re hoping it helps John sell a bunch of Joe. Kalikimaka in August!
